چکیده
[Aims] The saline soil in continuous silting tidal areas will become a crucial reserved land resource China. A prominent problem is controlling salinization for improving agricultural water and resources’ productivity coastal areas. [Methods] An experiment was conducted to study the effects of different mulching tillage measures on salt-water status maize growth. There were four treatments: (1) film (FM), by only setting transparent plastic (with thickness 6 μm) surface soil; (2) straw deep-burying (SDB), which buried as layer at depth 30 cm; (3) combining mulch with deep-buried (F+S), cm surface; (4) control (CK), simulating standard local practice. [Results] results showed that storage (SWS) under FM F+S significantly higher than others, best role conservation. had reasonable effect salinity regulation during whole growth stage; salt content 0–30 decreased 1 g/kg 0.74 FM, respectively. Compared CK, plant height, LAI, SPAD value, yield all improved tillage. process water-use efficiency (WUE) more those other treatments. [Conclusions] Overall, can be recommended suitable strategy regulating moisture, thus crop

Effects of Mulching and Nitrogen on Soil Nitrate-N Distribution, Leaching and Nitrogen Use Efficiency of Maize (Zea mays L.)
Mulching and nitrogen are critical drivers of crop production for smallholders of the Loess Plateau in China. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mulching and nitrogen fertilizer on the soil water content, soil nitrate-N content and vertical distribution in maize root-zone. The experiment was conducted over two consecutive years and used randomly assigned field plots with...

The effect of spent engine oil (SEO) on soil properties and growth of maize (Zea mays L.) was investigated. Five treatments (0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 l/kg) of the spent oil were applied to soil in perforated poly bags with maize stands at four weeks after sowing. Soil analysis showed that SEO had no effect on both the pH and texture of the soil. Organic C, N and Mg in the contaminated soils i...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
متن کاملRemediation of soil co-contaminated with pyrene and cadmium by growing maize (Zea mays L.)
Sites co-contaminated with organic and metal pollutants are common and considered to be a more complex problem as the two components often causes a synergistic effect on cytotoxicity. Phytoremediation has been proposed as a cost-effective technology for treating heavy metal or organic contamination and may be suitable for remediation of co-contaminated soil. This study investigated the concurre...

Sites co-contaminated with organic and metal pollutants are common and considered to be a more complex problem, as the two components often have a synergistic effect on cytotoxicity. This study investigated the dissipation mechnisms for pyrene in cadmium co-contaminated soil in which maize (ZEA MAYS L.) was grown in a greenhouse experiment. Results showed the growth response of maize may be aff...
